Kindergarten for 2-5 year olds


The Kindergarten is open for five mornings a week from    9 am - 1 pm although children may be left at school from 8.30 am onwards by arrangement. It is also open on Monday and Wednesday afternoons until 4 pm for older Nursery age children.

This provides a wonderful opportunity for a child's natural and normal development to be nurtured within a caring and stimulating environment. As they approach the age of three, young children are ready to find out more about the wider world. Here at Rossholme Kindergarten, the children

  • develop an enjoyment of learning through play
  • learn to socialise with other children and adults
  • are gently encouraged to develop concentration skills
  • practise good eating habits
Their start on the educational ladder is a happy experience which sets them up well for life.
Most children start for two or three mornings a week, gradually increasing their attendance until, by the end of the Summer Term, they are attending all sessions.

The children returned to Kindergarten this year, very excited to discover their new home and to welcome several newcomers.

The original stables and coach houses of the former vicarage now provide wonderful spacious and airy classrooms and role play rooms.  The conservatory area provides a cloakroom and play space and there is plenty of outdoor play space for the large wooden climbing frame which incorporates a slide, scramble rope, rope bridge, ladder and tyre swing as well as hard surface for wheeled toys.

Last term’s leavers kindly donated some new equipment for the Kindergarten including a large wheeled box to store big books and some beautiful, specially made, comfortable cushions for story time.
